Day 14

Bapak and Ibu decided to stop writing El@School’s story from today, because El has started enjoying new school, meeting new friends.

Day 12

  • Bad morning
  • Learn veggie song
  • Recognize music teacher‘s name is Ms. Letha
  • One of the teachers at class is still sick and couldnt make it to school
  • During paper work, children are requested to color and cut 4 different shapes: triangle, square, rectangle and circle
  • She got a stamp from the teacher because she bring healthy snack to school today and finish them
  • Finish the lunch, she likes the menu

Day 11

  • Super smooth morning, she was happy on the way and when we arrived at school
  • It was raining when we arrived and she was excited to use her own umbrella and walk through the parking lot
  • We met one of her classmates on the entrance, she noticed the girl’s name is Vicky and waved hand to Vicky
  • PE class was conducted indoor as it was raining in the morning. She started to recognize that PE instructor’s name is Ms. Irma. Today’s activity during PE class was mainly following dance moves from a video
  • Music class - songs: Menanam jagung, little teapot, fruit salad, I like apples. During music class, a classmate named Abdillaa was injured because he was trying to sit on a piano, but he was falling down instead. She said that she was trying to play the piano, she felt that her tunes are already similar to what the teacher play 😁😬
  • Ibu has been constantly packing unhealthy foods for snacks lately, she was wondering if she can have some fruits for the upcoming days. Her classmate Enzo shared his blueberry for El to have during snack time. She asked for bananas, grapes and bluberries next time
  • Inquiry class was about picking some pictures of favorite foods/drinks from a big board and stick them to a smaller board provided
  • She ate lunch next to Selma as usual and Selma was asking if El is gonna go to Italy in the near future. Selma said she overheard El talking with teachers about this plan
  • She super like the lunch menu and finish them all
  • She ride seesaw on the playground with Aisya after lunch
  • Met Chelsea at the parking lot when we’re about to go home. She smiled and waved at her. She said that Chelsea was the one who kept staring at her during the first week of school, but she said they’re good, they’re friends now

Day 10

  • Super smooth morning
  • Meet Rayya, a classmate at the entrance gate. Rayya hug El and they both holding each other’s hands while walking to the class
  • Taking shoes off on her will when we arrived at the class

Day 9

  • Smooth morning
  • Hopping and jumping during PE class in the morning, enjoy and fully participate. The part she likes the most is when children are requested to throw balls to a basket. Girls are hopping through the red line, while boys are hopping through the blue line
  • Children are requested to arrange a puzzle on screen during IT class. She made it to complete before the time is up, so she was able to play games while waiting for other children to finish
  • Learn short before & after meal du‘a 
  • Finish her lunch, she super likes the sauteed brocolli on the menu today
  • She got a good-job sticker for crying no more in the morning

Day 8

  • Bad morning, but relatively better than yesterday. She only claim that she feels terrible, something’s wrong with her tummy and start teary
  • Long conversation with Ibu before the class was started
  • Planning to borrow Barney&friends book from the library but pick Pingo series instead
  • Start to make friend with korean girl, the girl gave her heart-shaped stickers
  • Finish the lunch, her favorite menus were served today, egg and sauteed carrot
  • Getting better in singing tea pot song, she finally recognized the complete lyrics
  • Telling that one of the teachers is sick and could not make it to school today
  • Super happy to see Bapak picking up her from school today

Day 7

  • Bad morning
  • Similar to the situation happening on last tuesday
  • Seem to get a better mood quickly because when the class performed in front of parents during the Parents Information Session (PIS), she’s in a good shape
  • Notice that few classmates dont come, and asking why they dont come?
  • Recognize more names e.g Kael (Mikael), Enzo, Rayya, etc
  • Left her water bottle in the car as she was whining in the morning
  • She doesnt like most of today’s lunch menu, only finish carrot from the soup and left the rest untouched
  • Someone remove her bag from her favorite compartment
  • Asking why we put the bags in compartments here in the new school? Why the compartments are not labelled? She likes the way her old school keeps the bags tidy by hanging them outside the class and label the hanger, so each student has 1 hanger specially assigned for him/her

 

Notes from parents information session

A. Cooking activity with parents

  • Feb 1st, children and teachers will go to grocery store - Yogya Junction, buy the ingredients
  • Feb 2nd, parents will cook with children at school
  • Class will be splitted into 6 groups, so each group will consists of 2-3 parents + kids
  • Each group will be assigned to cook 1 menu either corn soup, scrambled egg, or juice

B. Excursion to Cimory-tentatively by end of Feb: children will see dairy cow, learn where the milk served on their table is originally from

C. Poster campaign - cook at home with parents, choose a simple menu

  • Post max 6 pictures on a manila paper about the ingredients, process, and final result
  • Write down on the poster: name of the food (encourage your kids to write by themselves), ingredients, process and final result. Help them to write complex sentences or spell the words for them
  • Children requested to explain at class about their poster

D. Collecting information from parents

  • Parents’ favorite food&drink
  • My dinner: (assisted by parents) write down the menu for 5 respective days and report back to class in the upcoming week. Adding some photos on the note will help children to recall what they eat, so they’d be able to explain better in class

Day 6

  • Smooth morning
  • A bit reluctant to join music time and PE in the morning
  • Her best friend is back today, after skipping the school last friday
  • One more classmate’s name is noted, it’s Abram - a curly haired boy. We met at the parking lot, they recognized each other and say hi.
  • Finally memorize complete set of Fruit Salad song lyrics
  • “Watermelon, watermelon...papaya, papaya...banana, banana...fruit salad. Fruit salad. Yummy, yummy”
  • Memorize complete set of Pancasila song lyrics
  • “Pancasila dasar negara, rakyat adil makmur sentosa...”
  • She likes the most “ayo maju...maju...” part
  • Did not finish the lunch as she doesnt like chicken satay on the menu

Day 4

  • Super smooth morning
  • Happy to arrive at the same time with Aaron and greet him at the door “Morning Aaron...”
  • Enjoy swimming class. Some friends refused to swim and sitting by the pool instead.
  • She said that she pretend to be a mermaid when the instructor told her to kick her legs up and down in the water
  • Finish both snacks and lunch
  • Eat lunch at the same table with Selma and ride the seesaw with her while waiting for Ibu to pick up
  • Had a conversation with Kiel and teaching him to speak Bahasa Indonesia  🤪

Day 3

  • A little sad in the morning after separation with Ibu, but join the activities happily very soon
  • Getting to know the classmates better than the first two days, she recognized three names: (i) Selma, the girl whom she spend time the most (playing, eating lunch, etc); (ii) Aaron, a boy; (iii) Kiel - she said that there is one boy who has a similar name with her. She spell Kiel’s name as Kee-el
  • Telling about some conversation she had with the new friends such as the talk about “alarm” and “games” with Selma
  • Telling that there is one girl who kept starring at her, look so mean and she felt threatened
  • She recognized there are three stories read by the teacher today, one of them is about favorite food and drink.
  • Students are requested to ask their parents about their favorite drinks. So she demanded to call Bapak in the afternoon and ask this question. She insisted to do it in the afternoon while Bapak is still at the office because she’s afraid if she fell asleep already when Bapak gets home in the evening
  • She start to return the plate and cutleries to the kitchen by herself today
  • Left small piece of bread on the lunchbox and told Ibu about it on the way home

Day 2

  • Bad morning
  • Complaining about long school time, begging to stay at home instead
  • Skip the morning exercise as she’s still crying and in a bad mood
  • Start to feel better during the second activity (music time), but still refuse to join the group singing “fruit salad”.
  • Yet, she recognised the song and kept humming it at home.
  • Recognised the story red by the teacher, it’s about farm
  • Singing something about farm and imitating a farmer working with hoe

Day 1

  • Smooth start in the morning
  • Finish the snack and lunch
  • She said she enjoy running around with the new friends during PE class
  • She made friend already with this one girl who’s also a big fan of My Little Pony series. She doesn’t know yet the girl’s name. The girl gave her one My Little Pony sticker (Commander Tempest).
  • Got rewards from Bapak and Ibu, went to Toys City and have Num Noms + Shopkins
